Pip lives on a palm-sized box with a bright little screen. Press, talk, and your Pip whooshes off to Mom or Grandma with a chime.

One button to talk, one to listen. That is the whole manual.
Names, not menus. Kids tap the person, not an interface.

Bring your own box
Pip runs on an off-the-shelf mini board. Order it online. When it arrives, plug it into your computer, open pipvoice.com, and press one button. Two minutes later the bare little gadget is a member of the family. No soldering, no downloads, no shipping it anywhere - if you can plug in a USB cable, you're overqualified.

PIP FOR EVERYONE

Hands-free, when hands are the hard part.

Some people can talk but can't press a button. For them, a box can be switched to voice mode, and from then on it answers to its name.

“Hey Pip” is the whole interface. The box asks, out loud, who the message is for; “yes” is the only other word it needs to know. It records, asks once more, and sends.
Listens on the box, not in the cloud. The wake word is recognised on the little chip itself. No audio leaves the box until a Pip is actually sent.
A grown-up's switch. Voice mode is off by default and turned on per box from the app, for exactly the people who need it.

Grown-ups install the app

Open pipvoice.com on your phone, add it to your home screen, sign in with a 6-digit email code.

Kids get their box

Order the board, and when it lands on your doormat, plug it into your computer and click “Make it a Pip.” Your family gets stamped in right there. Then plug it in anywhere with WiFi.

Press, speak, release. A chime rings on the other side. Repeat forever.

PIP KEEPS SECRETS

Heard, then gone.

Pip is a messenger, not a recorder. Voice notes exist to be played, not kept.

Messages that melt. The moment a Pip is heard, we delete it from our servers. Unheard Pips evaporate after 30 days (but can always be re-sent). There is no archive, because there is no archive.
We know almost nothing about you. One email address per grown-up. No kid accounts, no names, no birthdays, no profiles. You can't leak what you never collected.
No ads. No trackers. No funny business. Your family is the customer, never the product. It's free, and we'll try hard to keep it that way.
Uncompromising on privacy. Every Pip travels encrypted and rests on servers under European privacy law, until it's played and gone.

We run the server, you plug in the boxes. Nothing to maintain: the easy path for most families.

Self-host

Pip is open source (AGPL-3.0). Run everything on your own small server, so your family's voices never touch anyone else's computer. Needs a domain with HTTPS and an hour of tinkering. Note that self-hosting may incur hosting costs.
